Winnipeg Transit has agreed to extend its vendor relationship with Magnet Mobile Media for a third consecutive year. Winnipeg Transit has developed BUStxt, a popular text messaging service that provides travellers with transit information over a common short code number.  Magnet’s M3 platform enables the service to be available on any mobile device subscribed to a Canadian mobile network.

Txt2Seeme
has selected Magnet Mobile Media’s m3 Platform to broadcast their instant SMS information service. Txt2Seeme has created a unique SMS service that  connects sellers with potential buyers in the automotive sales industry.

Consumers can text in keywords found on “for sale signs” promoted on vehicles. Within seconds of texting in to the Short Code, 73363, the consumer receives full details about the car. To use the service is free but your network standard message rates may apply. The service operates across all mobile networks in Canada.

Winnipeg Transit has decided to continue its SMS transit information service. The service, called BUStxt, enables travelers in Winnipeg to use SMS to get real time bus information. Users text in keyword commands to a Short Code number in order to retrieve bus times and locate their nearest bus stop. BUStxt has proven to be a highly popular service with around 1.9 million text messages being broadcasted in just its first year.

The Government of Alberta is running “The Dead Giveaway” contest on AMP Radio, Calgary. Players can text in DEAD to 78910 to win instant giveaway prizes and be entered into weekly grand prize draws.

The promotion is all part of the provincial government’s education drive to promote young driver safety along with a new campaign website. The website offers edutainment features such as a quiz, campaign adverts and video games.

To enter the sweepstakes costs $0.50 per text entry. Tune into AMP radio to discover if you are a winner.

The City of Winnipeg has launched BUStxt a text messaging service that enables Winnipeggers to receive real time travel information.

Now there are no more agonizing waits at the bus stop on those cold arctic mornings. Instead, all you have to do is grab your mobile and text in to the  BUStxt service.

BUStxt lets you discover next bus arrivals at your bus stop and it alerts you to any problems affecting your route. There is also a bus reminder setting.

BUStxt is all part of a $4.86 million investment project to modernize the Winnipeg transit system. A sophisticated GPS tracking system has been fitted to all city vehicles from which BUStxt gets fed real time transit data.

The new service is free but naturally if your texting out with your free message plan your mobile network will charge you their standard text messaging rate.

A smartphone application version called iMOBILE will also be released in the near future.

WTWinnipeg Transit will be using text messaging services to allow people to receive real time bus information on their mobile devices. Arrival times and schedules of the next bus at your stop can be a text away.
